Mini-Toobers

The protein models will be created using Mini-Toober kits provided by the RCSB PDB. Bring this model to the competition to be impounded. NJ coaches may contact the RCSB PDB for a kit at buildmodels@rcsb.rutgers.edu.

Toober kits (left) and visualization tools (center) can be used to create a protein model. A section of the MHC protein is shown (right). Color of toober used does not matter.

Mini-Toobers are products of 3D Molecular Designs, 2223 North 72nd Street, Wauwatosa, WI 53213, (414) 774-6562, Fax: (414) 774-3435, http://www.3dmoleculardesigns.com

Model Lending Library

The MSOE Model Lending Library is available to help students learn about proteins. MSOE CBM has also provided Rutgers with Introduction to Protein Structure Collection suitcases.

The suitcases offer hands-on activities to guide students from the basic building blocks of proteins, amino acids, through the different levels of protein structure.
